Reflections on sovereignty and supranationality in the processes of regional integration
Abstract
This paper analyzes a reality that emerged in the globalized world: the debate about the (im)possibility of granting a portion of state sovereignty to a supranational
integration organism. Based on the political scientists and internationalists, we present different perspectives on the assertion that sovereignty would be an exclusive
attribute of the State and that it could not assign a portion to another entity. In other words, we seek to reflect whether the State effectively transfers the exercise of certain sovereign powers to another organism and whether the sovereignty can
be shared or even granted to an international body.
